CHALLENGE
Medical equipment manufacturer Endotronix, an Edwards Lifesciences company, needed a more efficient way to manage the tablets that sync with its implantable Cordella cardiac monitoring solution. These mobile devices capture data and offer healthcare providers symptom updates remotely, making them crucial to patients’ health.
However, no single tablet had the capabilities to address every user’s unique needs, so Endotronix had to provide operational support for multiple types of devices. With lengthy deployment timelines and regular software updates for each device type, this became extremely costly. Additionally, the tablets routinely crashed, lost connectivity, and were susceptible to bloatware, which slowed down their operation.
These issues negatively impacted customer trust, and the tablets were responsible for numerous complaints. Endotronix tapped NEXA (formerly Social Mobile), a T-Mobile for Business Partner, and their enterprise-grade hardware brand, Rhino Mobility, for a new mobile cardiac monitoring solution.
SOLUTION
NEXA collaborated with Endotronix to develop an enterprise-grade solution that is secure, manageable, and flexible, while providing the consistency and longevity that previous, disjointed devices could not. With purpose-built Rhino Mobility tablets powered by America’s Best Network, according to Ookla® Speedtest®*, from T-Mobile, the team helped Endotronix deliver a more stable alert system to cardiac patients across the country.
RESULTS
This streamlined new device has significantly reduced provisioning timelines while virtually eliminating tablet-related crashes, connectivity issues, and lag time. This helped Endotronix restore trust by making it easier for healthcare providers and patients to reap the benefits of remote cardiac monitoring. Nationwide coverage and low-latency performance from the T-Mobile network help deliver near real-time alerts that are synced consistently from implanted devices to the new Rhino Mobility tablets. This reliability gives patients peace of mind, trusting that their healthcare providers will be notified of any heart symptoms, even outside the hospital.
"NEXA and T-Mobile for Business showed true commitment to helping us achieve our ultimate goal, which was to provide stability for healthcare providers and their patients. We can now give clinicians reassurance that compatible mobile monitoring devices will be available where they need them, while providing greater longevity than typical consumer devices."
